The plans behind traveling
I realize now that there’s so much more to travel than just going places
It is indeed a dream to get as many pages as possible filled in your passport. I don’t want to limit only to travel but to know people’s stories as well. Capturing a few moments of their life and nature is what I want to cherish when I’m back home.
The reality
Traveling to a place doesn’t end with going there, visiting a few places, and coming back. From my standpoint, traveling requires these —
- Money — (at least to stay at an affordable place/ to pay for food and fuel if it’s a one day trip).
- Planning — stay, expenses, places to visit.
- Recommendations — from friends who have been to the place and can guide you to less expenditure on things that don’t require much spending.
- Knowing a tad bit about the place that you’re visiting.
- Taking notes and pictures — to hark back to your days from the trip.
- Backpack/Suitcase — hehe; for the minimum requirements.
Why there’s so much more to traveling than just going places?
As I mentioned earlier, traveling doesn’t end at going to a place and coming back. You want to cherish each moment you’ve spent during your stay in that place, you want to talk to a few locals, you want to eat the local food, visit the tourist hotspots of that place, you want to shop, for yourself, for friends, or relatives and I can keep going on. Well, not everyone will want to do all of these because some people travel solo and are more interested in the history, photography, and visiting places of the particular region.
- Planning takes quite some time if it’s not an impromptu trip. You may be on the lookout for good but affordable hotels, you will want to visit the most talked-about places and the ones that are rarely visited, and food expenses depends on whether you want to eat street food or experience the luxuries of an elegant restaurant.
- Taking recommendations from friends and acquaintances who have visited the place is a good idea.
- Taking quality pictures and knowing about the history of a place also comes into picture when talking about traveling. You can either use a phone or (preferable) DSLR camera to take pictures. This is because pictures represent exceptional memories and that’s what defines that you’ve traveled. When you know at least a little bit about the place that you’re visiting, it changes your perspective from how you would have seen it, if you didn’t’ know what you’re going to see.
- Taking notes is the best way to remember the little things about your trip and if you’re a travel blogger, then it’s a must!
Stay safe!
“What are you waiting for?” won’t be the right phrase due to the ongoing situation of the pandemic. Having said that, I hear many people are traveling to places where human interaction is nil. So wear a mask and pack your bags for the solo trip to get closer to nature and it’s species!
